Lost in a Sea of Green

This message is for you;

it is for me.

It is for everyone in between.

We have something in common.

Something we cannot deny.

Something we can only begin,

to understand.

In polarity to our being gifted a life;

the death of our life,

is also a gift.

When you are standing

at the end of your road;

you will look back.

And when you turn around;

The people around you,

will be the ONLY thing

you see.

You will not see their profession.

You will not see how "matchy" their clothing is.

You will not see what car they drive.

You will not see their house.

You will only see what matters.

You will see their heart.

You will see their soul.

You will see your love for them.

You will see their love for you.

You see;

we spend our lifetime,

building our avatar.

Clothing it.

Feeding it.

Walking it.

Maybe...

We have this image;

of who we are.

And maybe that is just the problem.

We've all gotten lost in our image.

Lost in labels.

Lost in brands.

Lost in trends.

Lost in the opinions of those around us.

Who said any of these labels, brands, trends & opinions are healthy for our well-being?

What if;

we are diminishing our true character

by playing into this role?

What if;

playing into this role is squandering

our well-being?

It's easy for another

to walk through your door,

& tell you how to spend your energy.

Only you can be the judge;

if they have a return investment

in your well-being.

Work it away.

Work yourself to death.

Does it matter?

There are millions of us

floating around;

waiting to be exchanged.

What a JOKE!

We gamble the longevity of our lives;

like we are playing Monopoly.

This life isn't a game.

It is not a joke.

Every moment,

of every day,

we are investing our time.

Investing time into our well-being,

is fundamental.

Nobody else,

is going to do it for us.

"There is a beginning and end to all life – and to all human endeavors. Species evolve and die off. Empires rise, then break apart. Businesses grow, then fold. There are no exceptions. I’m OK with all that. Yet it pains me to bear witness to the sixth great extinction, where we humans are directly responsible for the extirpation of so many wonderful creatures and invaluable indigenous cultures. It saddens me to observe the plight of our own species; we appear to be incapable of solving our problems."

-- Yvon Chouinard

"I'd like to remind you, with countries, just like with people, it's easy to let the best of yourself slip away." -Bruce Springsteen
